Last revised October 7, 2026. The simplest way to explain our privacy practices is to follow a visit from beginning to end. MicStage Lab is an independent publication about podcasting and live-streaming equipment and software, run from the United States.
When you arrive
Your browser asks our server for a page. To answer, the server necessarily sees your IP address, your browser and device type, and which page you asked for and came from. Our hosting provider keeps logs of this for security and troubleshooting, and an analytics tool counts visits so we can tell which guides people actually use. None of this is used to build a profile of you as an individual.
When the page loads
Cookies and similar technologies may be set. Some remember your cookie choices. Others belong to analytics and advertising services. You will find the full list, and how to turn each category off, in the Cookie Policy.
When the ads appear
The site is funded by advertising, delivered by third parties, chiefly Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this website or others, and Google’s advertising cookies, including DoubleClick DART, let it and its partners do so across the internet. If you would rather not see personalised ads, visit Google Ads Settings, or use aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative for other vendors. To see how Google handles that information, read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
When you write to us
Anything you send through the contact form reaches us as you typed it. We read it, reply, and keep the thread for up to two years in case you write again. If you ask for a correction we may quote you in the article’s update note, but only with your agreement.
When you want something changed or deleted
Tell us what you want through the same form. Anyone can ask to see, correct or delete their information. Californians can additionally opt out of the sharing of their data for advertising. People in the EEA and the UK can also object, restrict, port their data, withdraw consent and complain to a regulator. We will confirm who you are before acting, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
When you leave
We do not follow you. Links on the site take you to other websites whose privacy practices we do not control, so read theirs. We do not sell your personal information for money, and the site is not meant for children under 13.
When this page changes
The date at the top moves. If you carry on reading, you accept the new version. If you prefer not to, the cookie and ad controls above remain yours.
